Suhara is outside its usual snow season right now.
A typical season here runs December to April, peaking in January, with around 11m of snow in total.
That makes Suhara the 12th snowiest of 26 Niigata resorts we have reviewed.
Estimated cumulative fresh snowfall at major on-mountain ski areas; actual totals vary substantially by resort, elevation, measurement location, and season.
Read the freezing level before the snowfall total. When Sea of Japan storm flow is the pattern to watch, the live numbers usually matter most in the first lift window. With a 200 to 550 metre elevation band and 350 metres of vertical, the groomers tell the story quickly once the first few laps are done. A seasonal baseline around 11 metres means moderate-looking totals can still refresh the main lines quickly. The swing variable is whether the snow line stays below the 200 metre base through the storm. If you are looking beyond the ropes, only chase that angle when the forecast also shows settled wind and stable visibility. Chase it when 10 to 20 cm lands cold to the base; skip it when the forecast shows a warm lower mountain.
